Propolis – Do We Remember Its Beneficial Properties?

Propolis – Do We Remember Its Beneficial Properties?

Propolis is the socalled “bee glue,” which bees produce from resinous substances collected from plants, wax, and their own enzymes. It is one of nature’s valuable antibacterial and antiinflammatory complexes. It is extremely important for neutralizing pathogens and maintaining a healthy environment inside the hive.

Propolis contains polyphenols and flavonoids, quercetin, luteolin, apigenin, phenolic acids, organic acids, various vitamins, and many other beneficial biologically active substances.

Thanks to the harmonious combined action of its components, propolis has a positive effect on the regeneration processes of problem skin. This is precisely why specialists enthusiastically incorporate this ingredient into cosmetic products, especially those designed for problem skin.

 What Can Propolis Do?

  • Support a healthy balance of the skin microbiome (in particular, it actively inhibits staphylococci responsible for secondary wound infections).
  • Thanks to its polyphenols, ensure the optimal progression and timely resolution of the skin’s inflammatory response to damage.
  • Create a favorable environment for tissue regeneration processes, including keratinocyte migration, restoration of the epidermal barrier, and increased activity of collagen-producing fibroblasts.

In this article, we would like to introduce a special Propolis Ointment from the brand Erboristeria Magentina (Italy).

Why Is This Cream Special?

The formula of Propolis Ointment by the Italian natural cosmetics brand Erboristeria Magentina makes the most of the regenerative potential of propolis through the selection of complementary cosmetic ingredients that enhance one another’s effects.

While propolis supports the microbiome and helps control the inflammatory response, moisturizing aloe gel creates an ideal environment for this, and panthenol additionally soothes irritation.

Centella asiatica extract contains compounds that stimulate the synthesis of collagen fibers.

The lipid base of this product is particularly interesting: in addition to the classic almond oil and shea butter, it contains castor oil and rosehip oil. Due to its high viscosity, castor oil is excellent at retaining moisture, making it effective for dry cracks, cheilitis, and chapped vermilion borders of the lips. Rosehip oil contains alpha-linolenic acid, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Finally, the ointment is enriched with powerful botanical complexes — healing extracts of witch hazel, Iceland moss, and St. John’s wort. Lavender essential oil accelerates regeneration while simultaneously soothing burning sensations, pain, and discomfort.
